Description:

The Webster Council on Aging provides a multitude of services to the elderly of Webster Parish.

Congregate Meals:
Nutritionally balanced meals for person 60 years of age and over and their spouses, provided in a group setting served at the Senior Centers and satellite sites. Meals are served five days per week and must meet one-third RDA requirements.
Recreation:
Enabling older persons to use and more fully enjoy leisure time, including individual and group social activities and pursuits such as art, crafts, hobbies, games and trips.
Wellness:
Offering an exercise and health program to help Seniors maintain a healthy well-being and an active life.
Legal Assistance:
Increasing the accessibility of legal representation, counseling and information and lectures.
Medicaid Enrollment Center:
To take initial Medicaid applications on individuals seeking certification for Medicaid.
Information and Assistance:
Service which seeks to match a wide variety of individual needs with appropriate community resources through individual advice, counseling, referral and follow-up. Determining the quality and or/effectiveness of a service provided to a client. To assess the results of the I/A and to gauge client satisfaction.
Outreach:
Initial seek-and-search activities to identify isolated and hard to reach individuals in order to assist them in gaining access to needed services. A needs assessment follows each outreach.
Homemaker Services:
Housekeeping tasks for the elderly in their homes by a trained and supervised homemaker. Includes light housekeeping such as mopping, sweeping, cleaning bathroom, changing and washing linens, etc.
Assessment/Screening:
Gathering information about a client to determine need and or eligibility for services.
Case Management:
A service which helps and individual assess services needed to live as independently as possible in the home setting.

We also have the Ombudsman program where we call on our area nursing homes to advocate for resident's rights in a nursing home setting.

Any resident or family member of a resident can access this program in Webster Parish by calling (800)256-2853 and asking for the Ombudsman coordinator.

Ask for $1 donation for lunch served.
