Description:
The 15th Judicial District Court administers the Juvenile Drug Court (HALT) program and is partnership between the criminal justice system and treatment communities that provide adolescents an opportunity to lead crime-free, drug-free lives.
Partners include Goodwill Industries of Acadiana - Recovery Connections, Office of Youth Development, Lafayette Parish School system, Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office, and Lafayette City Police.
H.A.L.T. is structured as a four phase program that averages 12 months in length. Each phase consists of frequent appearances before Judge Duplantier, random drug screening, strict curfew requirements and individual, family, group and recreation therapy. In addition to this, graduated sanctions/incentives are utilized regarding participants behavior. Each participant must also work toward an educational goal.

Referral through district attorney's office; partner agency; or, family.

Some court fees may apply. Some fines may be issued depending on the type of case/verdict.
