Programs:

Lunch Buddy Program
Beginning a new school year can be a fun and exciting time in a child's life, but for some children it can be a very trying time. Volunteers meet twice a month during their "Littles" lunch time.

High-School Mentoring Program
The High School Mentoring program is in schools throughout Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, Jeff Davis and Vernon parishes. The program matches high school sophomores and juniors with elementary students to assist them with homework, engage them in activities to improve listening skills, help teach the importance of delaying gratification, improving relationships with others as well as helping to build the child's self-esteem and confidence.

Foster Grandparent Program
The Foster Grandparent Program was developed in 1965 as a cooperative effort between the Office of Economic Opportunity and the Department of Health Education and Welfare (HEW) in Washington, D.C. The Foster Grandparent Program moved to the Lake Area in the fall of 1999. Its purpose is to enable low-income senior citizens to supplement their income in a meaningful way by providing volunteer service to special-needs children.

Community Based Mentoring
This volunteer experience allows an adult to engage in numerous activities with a child at his or her leisure. Volunteers are typically encouraged to engage the child in an activity at least twice a month. These activities may be simply washing a car, popping pop-corn and watching a movie, or exploring the outdoors. Volunteers must be 18 or older.
