Description:

Donate Life Louisiana is a collaboration of the organ procurement organization, eye banks, transplant centers and others committed to donation and transplantation. Donate Life Louisiana!€™s collective mission and call to action is to create trust, save and enhance lives, and positively impact the number of Louisiana citizens in the donor registry through education, awareness and leadership. The team works together to accomplish this through various education, outreach and advocacy programs throughout the State of Louisiana.

By generously choosing to register as an organ and tissue donor, you truly commit to saving lives. You may have questions about what registering as a donor means and how the process works. donatelifela.org is a 24/7 website where you can learn more about the life saving and life enhancing gifts of organ, tissue & eye donation and you can register as an organ, tissue and eye donor
On this a website you can complete a registration form.

This registration will serve as a document of gift as outlined in the Louisiana Uniform Anatomical Gift Act. A document of gift, not revoked by the donor before death, is irreversible and does not require the consent of any other person. It also authorizes any examination necessary to ensure the medical acceptability of the anatomical gift.

After submission of the online form, you will receive an email containing a copy of your registration which will confirm your registration and it which may be printed or saved for your records.

At any Louisiana OMV, say "YES" when they ask if you want to be an organ donor and get a heart on your license!

Once you!€™re registered, let your friends and family know and ask them to make the same lifesaving decision.

Registering your decision to donate will not interfere with life-saving medical care. Organ, eye and tissue donation is only an option after all life-saving attempts have been made and death is declared. You can register your decision to be a donor at the Office of Motor Vehicles or online.

Program Fees:

There is no cost for organ, eye and tissue donation. Once recovery is initiated, LOPA or the eye bank incurs all costs for recovery. The recovery process takes approximately 12-36 hours after death occurs, but all efforts are taken to ensure your family can make prompt funeral arrangements.
