Bossier Parish School System offers a diverse and unique array of educational opportunities designed to address the differing needs of the student population.

The major focus of the Bossier Life Skills Center program is to increase independence with which its students function in all aspects of life. The program is designed for those who have moderate/severe deficits in learning, tend to demonstrate inappropriate social behavior, and lack adequate communication skills. Placement is determined through the Individual Education Program (IEP) process.

Process (goals):
1. To teach chronologically age-appropriate functional skills in
natural environments.

2. To develop in each student a level of proficiency in these skills
so he will be less dependent on adults in all aspects of live.

3. To provide a progression of skill development which will
culminate not only in greater independence in living aspects, but
also in preparation toward employment.

4. To incorporate activities in community settings which enhance
development of designated skills.

Hours:

8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Monday - Friday.

Intake Process:

Have to take placement test to learn weaknesses and strengths. Once the student is up to the 12th grade level they have to take a Practice GED test. After they pass the Practice GED test they can take the real one.

Program Fees:

$50.00 for GED Testing.

Languages:

English.

Eligibility:

Have to be 17 or older.
