Description:
Weatherizes (insulates) the dwellings of low-income persons, particularly the elderly and handicapped in order to conserve energy and aid those persons least able to afford higher utility costs. This includes caulking cracks, weather-stripping, replacing windows, window panes and doors, and small roof repairs. Financing is provided by federal funds passed through the State of Louisiana, Dept. of Social Services. THIS IS NOT A HOME IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM.

Eligibility:
Households must have a defined need for service. Any household at least partially responsible for meeting its residential energy cost is considered vulnerable. This includes the household which has its own individual meter, as well as the household which pays energy costs as a part of its total rent payment. Income is also considered.
