Description:

The AARP Tax-Aide program has volunteers staffing sites across the United States. These IRS certified volunteers provide free tax counseling and preparation services to millions of low- and middle-income taxpayers, with special attention to those ages 60 and older.

Hours:

Sat 8:30am-12:30pm

Intake Process:

Call or walk in for service. Documents required include:
1.) TWO FORMS OF IDENTIFICATION:
Primary identification has a photo and a description of the individual. Acceptable forms of primary ID are:
-Current Driver's License or State ID
-Current Passport with photo
-Current Government issue ID
-Current Armed Forces ID
-Resident Alien ID Card
Secondary Identification will only be accepted in conjunction with a form of primary ID. Acceptable forms of secondary ID are:
-Voter's Registration Card
-Secondary or Post-Secondary School ID
-Current Voter's Registration Card
-Current Major Credit Card (signed)
2.) SOCIAL SECURITY CARDS FOR ALL PERSONS LISTED ON TAX RETURN
3.)DATE OF BIRTH FOR ALL PERSONS LISTED ON TAX RETURN
4.) ALL INCOME STATEMENTS TO INCLUDE:
-W-2'S
-1099'S
-Proof of Social Security Benefits for all beneficiaries on tax return
-Unemployment Benefits Statement
-Interest Statements
5.)DEPENDENT CHILD CARE INFORMATION:
-You must be the custodial parent of all dependent children or have the right to claim the dependent children represented, payee's name address, social security number or Tax ID number
6.)PRIOR YEAR TAX RETURN

Eligibility:

Call or visit site for specific details. Since eligibility for EITC may be determined through a combination of earned/unearned income, filing status, exemptions, etc., please direct the callers to visit or telephone their referred VITA/AARP sites to make specific determinations. Listed below is a representation of the Federal Year 2007 Income Filing Thresholds:

Earned income and adjusted gross income must each be less than:
-$36,348,($38,348 married filing jointly) with two or more qualifying children
-$32,001, ($34,001 married filing jointly) with no qualifying children
$12,120, ($14,120 married filing jointly) with no qualifying children

TAX YEAR 2007 MAXIMUM CREDIT:
-$4,536 with 2 or more qualifying children
-$2,747 with 1 qualifying child
-$412 with no qualifying children
